When I was applying for loans for my most recent investment property (my third property including my home), my score was in the mid-400’s. I had 4 late payments, which hurt me dearly, but the lenders actually looked at my report and refused me a loan, so I hired an agent who eventually helped me regain to 800+ in few years.

You have a point. 3.5% is a great rate you got. Mine is 4.125% I am accelerating payment on it. Also you can surpass me if you have good credit mix. not immediately but over the year you can surpass me. Unless I start having problems with my credit. Touch wood 🙂

I have much better uses for my money that will get a better return! I’m right behind you SB at 804!

Thank you Kevin!. Yes it was my first and only mortgage. have you heard of a score increase on a new first loan? It’s quiet unusual for me.

Good to know that positive history stays for 10 years. That means once my revolving accounts reaches that age I can expect some further improvement?

Paying your credit card bill early is a great trick to keep the reported balances low, even while spending at a higher level. Your length of credit may exceed seven years. Positive history remains on your report for ten years past the last date of activity.

Your new mortgage may have boosted your score if it was your first account of that type by adding to your credit mix (types of credit you have.)
